A sure sign of spring in Litchfield is outdoor Mass being held at the Lourdes Shrine grotto.

The first outdoor Mass of the season on Sunday drew about 200 pilgrims and was conducted by the Rev. Donald LaSalle and the Rev. Bill Considine of the Montfort Missionaries.

Mass is being held at the grotto on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. In case of rain, Mass will be held inside the grotto chapel.

Sunday is Mother’s Day and will be a big day at the grotto’s Mass, which will see all women in attendance blessed.

While at the Lourdes Shrine, guests can visit the grotto gift shop and grotto café. The gift shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The cafe is open Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
