Wamogo’s Joe Sylvester capped a brilliant four-year swimming career with an outstanding performance in the Berkshire League championship meet over the weekend.

Sylvester, who will swim at Eastern Connecticut State University next year, won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:10.70 and the 100-yard butterfly in 57.98 seconds. He was also part of the first-place 200-yard medley relay team (1:50.47).

Sylvester will leave Wamogo with school records in four individual events. He set the 200-yard freestyle record of 2:01.69 in 2018-19, the 200-yard individual medley record of 2:08.93 in 2019-20, the 100-yard butterfly record of 57.98 in the BL meet, and the 500-yard freestyle record of 5:16.02 in 2019-20.

He is also part of three relay teams that set school records. In the 200-yard medley relay, Sylvester, Garrett Deacon, Ethan Cook and Alexander Sideris set the record of 1:47.77 in 2019-20. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Sylvester teamed with Ryan Krhla, Jason Meto and Arbri Mucka to set a record of 1:36.87 this year, and in the 100-yard freestyle relay it was Sylvester, Mucka, Cook and Deacon setting a record of 3:36.80 in 2019-20.
