It was last call at The Kitchenworks in Litchfield on Tuesday.
The longtime business on the Green in the center of town closed for good at the end of the day. Owner Liz Eriksen, citing economic uncertainty resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, decided to shutter the 40-year-old business.
Eriksen became the fourth owner of the store when she bought it 13 years ago. The store’s lease expired this month and Eriksen was reluctant to renew it due to the condition of the economy. The store was closed from mid-March until the third week of June because of the pandemic, which of course hurt business and served as a precursor to Eriksen’s decision to close.
CP Farmhouse, also located on West Street, will be moving into the space.
