The Friends of Topsmead State Forest is offering a series called Lectures on the Lawn throughout the year featuring hands-on experiences on nature-themed topics.

The first lecture was a program on bald eagles in northwestern Connecticut on Feb. 15.

The presenter was Ginny Apple, an experienced wildlife rehabilitator and master wildlife conservationist with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.  She presented a slide show and discussed the bald eagle’s story from serious endangerment as a species to resurgence.
