Matthew Terzian’s dream of being able to walk to work from his home on South Street in Litchfield has been realized with the opening of a financial services firm’s office in the center of town.

Terzian, who is the chairman of the Board of Education, is overseeing the third Connecticut office of Advisors Capital Management,  nationally-recognized investment advisory and money management firm headquartered in Ridgewood, N.J.

The office at 21 South St. opened earlier in the month. Terzian is a chartered financial analyst and a certified financial planner who has 20 years of experience in the financial services field. He previously worked as a portfolio manager at Resources Management Corp., Bradley, Foster and Sergent, and BNY Mellon Wealth Management.

The chance to represent Advisors Capital Management in his hometown was welcomed, according to Terzian.

“This opportunity arose and after thinking about it, I realized it would be the right move,” he said. “Advisors Capital Management is a prestigious firm that provides depth for my services and a breadth of services for my clients.”

Advisors Capital Management has more than $3.5 billion in assets. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan is a senior economic adviser with the firm. Its co-founder and chief investment officer, Charles Lieberman, praised Terzian for his ability.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Matt’s experience and character heading up our Connecticut commitment,” Lieberman said in a statement. “Matt brings years of both investment and advisory success to our clients in the Litchfield area.”

Terzian previously served on the Board of Finance. He is a trustee at the Litchfield Historical Society and is a founding member of the board of directors of the KidsPlay Children’s Museum in Torrington.
