Former Litchfield High School basketball standout Ryan O’Neill is starting and playing well for the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford.

O’Neill, a sophomore, is scoring 12.8 points per game and down 4.5 rebounds per game through six games, four of which St. Joseph has won. St. Joe’s is coached by Jim Calhoun, the former UConn coach and a National Basketball Hall of Fame inductee.

O’Neill, who played three seasons at Litchfield High before a two-year stay at the Hotchkiss School, had 19 points in a win over Trinity College, 18 in a win over Lesley College, 16 in a loss to Tufts University, and 13 in St. Joe’s most recent win against Elms College.
