A proposed town budget of $9,229,882 for 2019-20 was passed on the first try in Morris on Wednesday.
Voters backed the plan, 72-6, at a town meeting. Since the approved budget is $47,399 less than the current budget of $9,277,282, the tax rate will be dropping from 26.57 mills to 26.54 mills beginning July 1.
The approved budget includes $5,975,180 for the approved Region 6 Board of Education budget, $3,237,002 for municipal expenses, and $17,700 for the state teachers’ pension fund.
In addition to approving the proposed budget, voters also re-elected Heather Connor to the Region 6 Board of Education for a three-year term. Connor is the board’s chairman.
