Goshen residents will have a chance to comment on the proposed town budget of $11,977,817 for 2019-20 during a public hearing Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
The proposed budget is $184,697, or 1.6 percent, higher than the current budget of $11,793,120. Making up the spending plan is $8,035,587 for the approved Region 6 Board of Education budget, $3,141,070 for municipal spending, and $801,160 for capital improvements.
Proposed municipal spending shows an increase of $75,442, or 2.4 percent, over current spending of $3,065,628.
If the proposed budget were to be approved at a town meeting later in the month, the current tax rate of 19.6 mills would increase by between one-half of 1 mill and eight-tenths of one mill.
Voters are scheduled to consider a proposed town budget May 29 at 8 p.m. at Goshen Center School.
