Wamogo girls to play Thomaston for BL title

Wamogo will get a third shot against Thomaston on Friday in the Berkshire League girls basketball tournament championship game.

The contest will be played at Wamogo at 7 p.m. Thomaston defeated Wamogo twice in the regular season and has held an upper hand on the Warriors the past two seasons.

Wamogo advanced to the title game with a 47-40 win over Nonnewaug on Wednesday, while Thomaston defeated Northwestern 49-40 in the other semifinal.

Kerri Stolle and Megan Layman combined for 15 of Wamogo's 17 points in a decisive fourth quarter. The scored was tied at 30 after three quarters, but the two seniors took over in the final quarter as the Warriors put Nonnewaug away.

Stolle finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists and Layman had 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Ariana Shemms added six points and eight rebounds and Jenna Lopardo came up big with seven points and five rebounds.
