Litchfield posed a challenge and Wamogo, with a berth in the Class S tournament on the line, responded with an effort that put Wednesday's game away in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors outscored the Cowgirls 13-3 in the final quarter to earn a 42-27 win in the final game of the regular season. Wamogo's takes an 8-12 record into Thursday's Berkshire League tournament game at Lewis Mills. Litchfield (6-14) plays at Thomaston in the tournament on Thursday.
The state tournament is scheduled to begin next week and Wamogo, with the minimum number of wins needed to make the tournament, will likely play on the road.
Led by the play of Alexa Guerrera, Litchfield staged a comeback late in the third quarter to cut into Wamogo's lead and keep its hopes of thwarting Wamogo's state tournament dream alive. But in the fourth quarter, Wamogo asserted itself behind the play of Cassidy Wilson (11 points) and Emily Kupcho (10 points) and pulled away.
