The biggest turnaround in the Berkshire League's boys basketball race continued on Monday when Wamogo edged Housatonic 61-60 and drew closer to a Class S tournament berth.
Wamogo, 2-8 three weeks ago and going nowhere, has rebounded with five wins in six games and is 7-9 heading into tonight's home game against Gilbert. A victory would give the Warriors the eight wins needed to qualify for the tournament.
The seventh win saw Spencer Albano play his best game of the season with 27 points and 13 rebounds and Nick Nemergut sink two crucial free throws with 11 seconds left.
Wamogo frittered away a 59-52 lead with one minute to go and was clinging to a 59-58 edge when Nemergut was fouled. He sank both ends of a one-and-one to put the Warriors up by three. Nemergut finished with 16 points.
