Sweetheart Run a pre-Valentine's Day tradition

The 15th annual Bob and Peg Andrulis Memorial Sweetheart Run on Saturday drew a field of 193 participants on a day well-suited for outdoor activities.
With a temperature of 30 and no wind, conditions were perfect for the runners and walkers in what was a fundraiser for the community center in memory of the parents of the center's executive director, Berta Andrulis Mette. Brothers Greg, Bill and Rob pitched in and participated.
Greg Andrulis welcomed the crowd and Bill Andrulis conducted the post-race awards presentation. Proceeds from the race will allow the community center to provide additional programs and activities for the public.
Tyler Lyon, 23, of Harwinton, won the race in 29:11. Runner up was Jonathan Reeves of New Milford in 32:29. The first female finisher wasLitchfield High School graduate Julia Tompkins, 22, 37:51. Tompkins was 16th overall. Stacy Raap, another Litchfield High grad, was second among females in 38:19.
