The first win of the season continues to elude Litchfield in girls basketball, but the Cowgirls are showing improvement each time they take the floor under new coach Paige Young.

Young's club stayed with Shepaug from start to finish on Wednesday in a 42-36 loss. Shepaug threatened to pull away in the fourth quarter, but each time the Cowgirls responded with a rally to keep the score close. Amber Marino had nine points and Allie Davenport eight to lead Litchfield (0-6).
