Strong defense propels Blues to Shoreline league win

The Litchfield County Blues of the Shoreline Adult Soccer League improved to 6-1-1 with a 2-0 win over the Milford Amigos at the Harrison-Whittlesey Recreation Area on Sunday.
Matt Belonick and Benoit Loizeau scored for the Blues and Nick Varholak had an assist. Jean Patricia made eight saves in goal and was fronted by superior defense. The Blues can clinch second place with a win at Greenwich in the final game of the season this Sunday.
Former Litchfield High School soccer standouts Matt McDevitt and Pat Odell and ex-Wamogo player Mark Barone are playing for the Blues. Sponsors of the Blues are Sportsmen’s of Litchfield, Woods Pit BBQ and CSA of New Milford.
