A  memorable season for the Wamogo softball team ended one out away from a trip to  the Class S tournament championship game.

The Warriors led Stafford 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh inning of Wednesday's semifinal at DeLuca Field in Stratford, but Stratford rallied for two runs on a two-out double by Emily Padegimas to win in stunning fashion.

Wamogo finished 19-5 and made it to the tournament semifinals for the second straight season. With a bunch of players coming back next year for coach Dave Sylvester, Wamogo will have a shot at another deep tournament run.

Wamogo was outhit 12-3 and was hitless against Hannah Davis until Danielle Maliszewski singled in the fifth inning with Wamogo leading 3-2. Maliszewski was thrown out trying to steal second and Davis retired the net two hitters to the stage for a solo home run in the bottom of the inning by Stafford's Julianne Milnes.

Despite being outhit, Wamogo stayed in the game by playing small-ball and taking advantage of four errors and a balk.

The Warriors had a chance to take the lead in the sixth inning when Savannah Wheeler singled and made it to third base, only to be stranded.

Wamogo took a 4-3 lead in the seventh when Cassidy Wilson led off with a single, moved to second on Danielle Maliszewski's bunt, and scored on a throwing error.

Wamogo struck first in the game, taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning on the combination of a walk to Wheeler, an error on Mackenzie Harnett's bunt, a balk by Davis and Cecily Zemaitis's groundout.
