It's all come down to one game for Wamogo's boys basketball team following Monday's 74-66 loss to Terryville.
To qualify for the Class S tournament, the Warriors (7-12) must win the regular-season finale Wednesday at Thomaston. An eighth victory would also land Wamogo in the Berkshire League tournament. A loss would end the season.
"If we don't make it, the answer will be in the mirror," Wamogo coach Gregg Hunt said of his team's prospects after Monday's loss. "But for us to come from 2-8 and put ourselves in a position to make the tournament is quite an accomplishment."
The Warriors have gone 5-4 since the low point Hunt spoke of and are playing well, although they've lost three straight since a three-game win streak had them at 7-9.
Some of Wamogo's best play of late came in the fourth quarter on Monday. After cutting into Terryville's lead in the third quarter, the Warriors drew within three at 56-53 on a basket by Mark Csehak with about six minutes left.
But it would get no closer as Terryville hit some free throws and broke Wamogo's press for a couple of layups. It was the press that brought Wamogo back after Terryville appeared in control with a 54-44 lead after three quarters.
"We haven't shown a press like that all year," Hunt said of the scrambling, hustling effort Terryville wilted under. "In the third quarter we stayed within 10 to 12 points and when we put the press on all of a sudden it was a close game and our guys were believing."

Wamogo outscored Terryville 40-34 in the second half but it wasn't enough to overcome a red-hot shooting effort that had the Kangaroos on top at halftime, 40-26. No matter what the Warriors did defensively, they couldn't stop a barrage of three-point shots.
"They hit some 3s with guys draped all over them," Hunt said. "They're a good team and they play well together, and we dug ourselves too big of a hole. But we did show some moxie in battling back."
Terryville put five players in double figures, while Wamogo relied on Nick Nemergut (21 points) and Spencer Albano (18) for most of its production. Mark Davis added eight points.
