The Litchfield County Blues over-30 soccer team defeated the Milford Amigos 2-0 on Sunday at the Morris recreation field behind goals from Mike Zahn of Norfolk and Vinny Miccoli of Torrington.

The Blues played well defensively in support of goalie Dave Oliver of Litchfield.

The Blues compete in the Shoreline Adult Soccer League's second division and are sponsored by Sportsmen's of Litchfield and Litchfield Hills Orthopedic Associates.  They are 4-4 and in fifth place out of eight teams in the west division.

In addition to Oliver, former Litchfield High players on the team are Duncan McGowan, Mike McGowan, and Matt McDevitt. Litchfield residents on the team are Brian Mongeau, Tull Patulak and Jamie Arber.

Former Wamogo standout Vito Famiglietti is the backup goalie and Wamogo boys soccer coach Mike Wilson is a forward. From Torrington are Godfrey Nelson, Diego Quintero and Andre Vial.

The Blues will play the Bridgeport Blue Dragons Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Morris field. After a summer break, league play will resume in mid-august.

Anyone interested in joining the Blues can contact Matt McDevitt at lcbluessc@hotmail.com.
