Morris commission hosts horseshoe pitching clinic

The Morris Beach and Recreation Department sponsored a horseshoe pitching clinic at the Weik-Towne Horseshoe League pits at the Town Beach on Saturday.

Weik-Towne members Kevin Weik and Linda Aurell were on hand to provide instruction. Among the participants were Weik's grandsons, Oliver and Grayson Anderson. Jamie Keppler represented the Beach and Recreation Commisison during the clinic.

Weik and Aurell will compete in the Connecticut Hoseshoe Association Tournament in New Haven this weekend. Aurell is a three-time defending women's state champion. She'll also compete in the New England tournament in Keene , N.H., on Labor Day weekend. In July, Aurell finished fourth in the women's senior division at the world tournament in St. George, Utah.
