LTC athletes bring home medals from Bloomfield meet

Six members of the Litchfield Track Club's Junior Olympic team competed at the Bloomfield Youth Track and Field Invitational on Sunday.

The LTC atrhetes ranging in age from 5 to 14 scored well in the team scoring. Although being outnumbered, the boys team placed sixth and the girls team seventh

In the girls 5-6 age group, Attie Bergin (Goshen) won the 400 meters and was second in the 100. Her sister, Brynn, won the 1600m and 3000m runs in the 13-14 division.

For the boys, Sean Clinkscales (Torrington) was a triple winner in the 13-14 division, winning the 400m, 800m, and 1600m by wide margins.

Cian Bergin, competing in the 7-8 age group,  won the 400m, and placed second in the long jump and turbo javelin. His brother, Danny was a silver medalist in the 11-12 shot put event.

Rounding out the scoring for the boys was Pink Wright (Goshen) who had a pair of second-place finishes in the triple jump and javelin competing in the 13-14 division.

The next competition for the LTC will be the Connecticut Association Junior Olympics, which will be held at the Plumb Hill complex in Litchfield on June 17. Top eight finishers in each age group will advance to the Region 1 competition in Fitchburg, Mass., July 6-9. Top five individuals from there will compete in the national championships in Lawrenceville, Kan., at the end of July.
