A losing streak dating back to 2012 came to an end Monday for Litchfield High's softball team.
The Cowgirls defeated Terryville 6-3 at Plumb Hill Playing Fields for their first win in 10 games this season. Melissa Brodeur and Sarah McCarthy each had a single, double and one RBI and Sam Foley had a single and a double to pace the winners. McCarthy was the winning pitcher and was the beneficiary of a fine defensive effort, particularly from shortstop Tori Tompkins.
Litchfield coach Sue Leigh got a bit emotional as she greeted her players following the win.
