Litchfield finds itself back in the consolation game of its own tournament following a loss on Wednesday.
The Cowboys fell behind in the second quarter and could never get out of the hole in a 61-51 loss to HMTCA in the opening game of the Cowboy Classic. HMTCA is a magnet school from Hartford.
Litchfield will face the loser of the nightcap between Woodstock Academy and E.O. Smith. The Cowboys led HMTCA 10-8 after one quarter but trailed 30-18 at halftime and 48-35 after three quarters. Tripp Melk had 14 points, Matt Schweter 13 and Evan Fischtall 10 to lead the Cowboys.
