Local sports celebrity Brent Hawkins teamed up with his wife, Mary, Litchfield High School golf coach Rob Gollow and Jon Fletcher of Litchfield to win the golf tournament the St. Anthony's Council of the Knights of Columbus held at Fairview Farms in Harwinton on Friday.

With Gollow, one of Litchfield's top golfers, drilling tee shots long and center, the foursome was no match for the rest of the field in the best-ball tournament.

The 18th annual tournament was held in memory of John Vendetti, who was a member of the St. Anthony's Council. Sixty-six golfers participated and enjoyed a luncheon, awards ceremony and prize raffle afterwards. St. Anthony's Council members Art Coffill and Evan Williams served as the master of ceremonies. The raffle featured a lineup of impressive prizes donated by local businesses and provided prizes for every participant.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the council's scholarship fund. The council recently gave out four $1,000 scholarships to college-bound high school seniors who are parishioners of St. Anthony's or Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam.
