A season of ups and down ended on a down note Monday for Litchfield in the first round of the Division V state tournament.
Despite playing on its home court, Litchfield didn't come to play and got whacked by Bolton, 61-41. The Cowboys finished 10-12.
Bolton, which jumped out to a big early lead, led 25-24 at halftime and seized control by outscoring the Cowboys 17-5 in the third quarter.
Litchfield, behind the three-point shooting of Tom Brady, cut Bolton's lead to 11 twice in the fourth quarter, the last time at 52-41 with 2:32 left. But the Bulldogs put the game away by scoring the last nine points.
Bolton's 6-foot-5 center Eric Bycholski dominated the Cowboys with 20 points. Dion Johnson added 15 points for the winners.
Matt Schweter, in his final game, led the Cowboys with 15 points. Glenn Doyle, Ryan Murphy and Austin Marino also closed out their careers. Brady and fellow junior Jared Guilmart both scored nine points. They'll join junior Tripp Melk in forming the nucleus of next year's team.
Tom Brady gave Litchfield hope with two three-point field goals in the fourth quarter.
