The boardwalk around Little Pond at the White Memorial Conservation Center took a heavy hit during Irene. Severe flooding and high winds buckled a portion of the popular walkway enjoyed by scores of walkers and nature enthusiasts.
Roger Johnson and James Harmon, part of the maintenance team at White Memorial are now busily repairing the boardwalk. Both Roger and James were highly praised by Executive Director Keith Cudworth and Program Director Gerri Griswold for their extraordinary efforts at helping to maintain the 4000 acre nature preserve.
The boardwalk was originally built in the mid-1960’s and has been maintained by the White Memorial maintenance team ever since then. The boardwalk can be accessed at multiple locations surrounding Little Pond including an entrance at the end of South Lake Street in Litchfield.
