Litchfield’s Board of Education has endorsed a plan to plant a tree on the grounds of Litchfield High/Middle School in memory of its former chairman, Diane Knox.

Knox, who died in December after a battle with pancreatic cancer, served 12 years on the Board of Education and was a selectman at the time of her passing in December.

The plan was proposed recently by former school board member Gary Waugh and Litchfield Hills Probate District Judge Diane Blick. A tree, Waugh and Blick said, would celebrate the contributions Knox made as a member of the board.
