Students receive donated equipment for summer trip

Fourteen students from Litchfield High and Wamogo preparing for a scientific research trip to Mexico in August will be using complimentary equipment on the journey.
Hiking shoes, backpacks, head lamps, water bottles, T-shirts and other items are being provided free of charge by Sportsmen's.The Bantam sports equipment and clothing store worked with its suppliers to arrange for the complimentary gear.
The trip in the first two weeks of August will be led by LHS science teachers John Markelon and Dean Birdsall. Students are headed to the Yucatan Peninsula as part of Operation Wallacea and will study wildlife diversity and scuba dive on a barrier reef.
Wamogo's students are Meg Salmon, Julia Boger-Hawkins, Lily Borbas, Paul Marceski, Rose Kelly, Kalea Barger, Sam Gabriel-Deveau, Marcos Lopez and Alex Johnson. Representing Litchfield are Jimmy Kelleher, Augie Hurtado, Carson Mello, Sarah Beres and Dante Ferrari.
