South Farms project to receive preservation award
The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation's annual Award of Merit is going to South Farms in East Morris for its ongoing project in which the landmark barn on the property is being converted to a special events facility.
The award will be presented during the Connecticut Trust's annual meeting in Hartford on April 8. Ben Paletsky, the owner of South Farms, will receive it on behalf of the contractors and professionals involved in the project.
One-quarter of the 20,000 square-foot barn was gutted and is being turned into a facility for weddings, conferences and special events. It will be called "The White Barn @ South Farms."
The Award of Merit also cites architect Clifford Cooper of Litchfield, carpenter Adam Harrison of Morris, Anvil Artistry of Morris, Juegler Associates, Seaborn Electric, Berkshire Alarm, G&S Construction, Marchetti Engineering, Worden's Welding, Martin Plumbing and Heating, TNT Refrigeration, New England Building Products, L&L Contracting, Contractor Products, Quality Glass and Connecticut Post and Beam.
