Sen. Blumenthal attends Democracy Awakens event
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal addresses the Democracy Awakens meeting at Litchfield High School on Sunday.
Blumenthal met with the grass roots group made up of more than 300 Connecticut residents who are pushing an agenda they say is designed to protect democracy in the wake of the election of President Donald Trump.
In his address, Blumenthal accused Trump of obstructing justice in the matter of possible Russian interference in the election and of heading an administration and a White House rife with conflicts of interest. The senator also criticized Trump's health care plan and infrastructure plan.
Below, Phil Donahue of Kent, left, and Marty Cassone of Warren were stationed at the corner of Route 202 and Constitution Way to protest the gathering. Democracy Awakens was founded by Jean Koeppel of Morris.
