What is expected to be one of the best summers in memory at Sandy Beach began with a social on Saturday evening.
Sandy Beach Commission members and the beach's new manager, Todd Dyer, were on hand to welcome beach passholders and serve complimentary hamburgers and hot dogs.
The social gave passholders a chance to see the new bathrooms in the beach's main building. The bathrooms were built last fall and winter and replace the abominable portable toilets that were used for years. Dyer and his staff of lifeguards have been working hard to improve the condition of the beach, which was impeccably groomed for the social.
It was a picture-perfect evening on Bantam Lake.
