The Litchfield Hills Rowing Club held its sixth annual Million Meter Challenge at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Litchfield on Sunday.
Thirty rowers from the club and the public combined to row 902,000 meters on rowing machines in the church basement. They came up a bit short in their goal, but it was still an amazing effort. One million meters is the equivalent of 621.4 miles.
The event raised more than $1,200 in pledges for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the charity of choice for all six years the challenge has been held.
