Litchfield's Democratic Town Committee on Friday recognized Marie Wallace for her 50 years of service on the town committee and for her many years helping four nonprofit community organizations.
Wallace was honored during a dinner at the Litchfield Inn. State Democratic Party Chairman Nancy DiNardo and former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz were on hand to pay tribute to Wallace.
Audrey Blondin, matriarch of the town's Democratic Party and a member of the Democratic State Central Committee, attended as did state central committee member Kevin Creed of Litchfield. Selectman Diane Knox presented a proclamation to Wallace on behalf of the Board of Selectmen. Joining the festivities were Democratic Town Committee Chairman Darlene Clouther and Selectman Jeffrey Zullo.
There were also representatives from the Litchfield Aid of the Connecticut Junior Republic, the League of Women Voters of Litchfield County, the Litchfield Community Services Fund and the McCall Foundation, organizations Wallace has been a part of.
Wallace was the Democratic Registrar of Voters for seven years until stepping down in November.
