Litchfield's Board of Education on Wednesday will resume its debate of the proposed Superintendent of Schools Deborah S. Wheeler has recommended for 2013-14.
The board meets at 7 p.m. at the Litchfield High School library and is scheduled to consider adopting Wheeler's spending plan of $16,120,487, which represents an increase in spending of $468,735, or 2.99 percent.
If the plan is adopted, it would be moved to the Board of Finance on March 18. Based on the school board's Feb. 20 review of Wheeler's recommendation, however, there are likely to be changes before a proposal is adopted. The board seems to favor restoring a first-grade teaching position and at least half of a speech pathologist position Wheeler is proposing to cut due to declining enrollment.
