Frinds of Roger Newbury Jr. of Litchfield came out in droves for a fundraiser held in his honor at the Litchfield Community Center on Saturday night.
Newbury suffers from multiple sclerosis and all of the proceeds from the evening will help him offset the cost of prescription medication. More than $15,000 was raised, according to Litchfield Community Center Executive Director Roberta Andrulis Mette, who organized the event with her husband, Matthew Andrulis Mette, her brother, Bill Andrulis, and Bill's wife, Carol.
A donation of $2,500 was presented by John Bongiorno on behalf of the Possum Queen Foundation and a 50/50 raffle raised $1,200.
Donations are still being accepted. Checks made payable to Team Newbs can be sent to P.O. Box 889, Litchfield, 06759.
Master party planners Roberta Andrulis Mette and Bill Andrulis thanked the crowd for the support.
