James Morris School celebrates Literacy Day
Litchfield.bz (02-16-12)

Thursday was Literacy Day at the James Morris School in Morris and students had a chance to portray two of the historic figures they have read about this year: famed aviator Amelia Earhart and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Several students came in costume as Earhart or Roosevelt and paraded around the school. They also got to learn about flight from professional pilots Kathy Hill and Jim Wheeler, parents of children in the school. Hill and Wheeler presented a slideshow documenting some of their travels and spoke of their careers and how they got started. In the photos, top to bottom, reading teacher Tracy Keilty, in her Amelia Earhart outfit, leads students on parade through a classroom, fourth-grader Bella Boljonis has an Earhart look to her, and Wheeler and Hill mingle with students after their presentation.
