Bill Burgess is the new chairman of the Board of Finance in Litchfield.
Burgess on Monday was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board and then was elected chairman. He fills the vacancy created when former chairman Helen Bunnell stepped down to become tax collector.
Burgess, a Republican, will serve until November 2019, when he would be eligible to run for a full term on the board.
In Litchfield, Burgess is the chairman of the Republican Town Committee and served on the Planning and Zoning Commission. He is the president of Partners for Sustainable Healthy Communities, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Litchfield Hills Farm-Fresh Market.
