The 10th annual Bob Andrulis Memorial Sweetheart Run on Saturday was as good as ever, drawing 399 participants, raising a good chunk of change for the Litchfield Community Center and providing a good time for all.
On a perfect day to run, Chris Rosenberg of Old Saybrook won the 5-mile race in 27:11. Eamon Dempsey of Delmar, N.Y., was second in 27:49. Theresa Krebs of Roxbury was the first female finisher and was 17th overall in 34:39. Second place in the women's race went to Patricia Whitehouse of Southbury in 35:21.
The first Litchfield resident to finish was Bob Davenport, who was sixth in 31:00. The fastest couple was Marc and Courtney Dalke of Litchfield, who finished in 36:41. They received an award for their effort.
There was no costume division, but if there was it would've been won by Micky Pratt of Goshen and Jodi Rockness of Litchfield. Pratt, a master of disguise, ran as Cupid and Rockness ran as Miss Red Hot. They made for quite a sight running together.
Roberta Andrulis Mette, the director of the community center and the race, ran with her brother, Bill. The race is named after their father, Bob, who died in 2002. A special tribute was paid to Bob's wife, Peg, who died last month.
