Daffodils will make for a colorful sight next spring along the Litchfield Community Greenway near where a pedestrian bridge will carry it over Butternut Brook.

Led by Friends of the Litchfield Community Greenway President Clifford Cooper on Saturday, volunters planted 1,000 daffodil bulbs at the location. The bulbs and 1,000 more were donated by Van Engelen and Co. in Bantam. Cooper and his charges are planning to plant the rest of the bulbs in the next couple of weeks.

Footings for the bridge were poured last week and are ready to receive the structure, which is scheduled to be constructed on Nov. 11.

The stretch of greenway will take pedestrians from Bissell Road to North Shore Road. Work to build the surface of greenway in the area is next on the list before attention is turned to building another segment of greenway heading toward Bantam.
