The Christmas season kicked off in Bantam on Friday when the Bantam Historical Society held its annual Christmas caroling and tree lighting at Bantam River Park.

Historical society members, including Dick Sheldon and Jane Golding, got the bonfire going at the park before the caroling commenced and the tree lighting followed.

Participants enjoyed hot drinks afterwards at Bantam Borough Hall.

Chris and Ann Combs join in the caroling.

Santa, played by Kevin Titus, welcomes the crowd.

Litchfield Hills Probate District Judge Diane Blick and Frank Pierzga are illuminated by the bonfire.

The Salisbury Band Christmas Brass and Hot Chocolate Society led the caroling.
