Arethusa Farm Dairy has expanded its real estate holdings in Bantam.
The business on March 1 purchased 1.48 acres at 40 Vanderpoel Ave. for $120,000 from Squam Property Management of Litchfield. The property has been vacant since Alvord's Connecticut Cut Flower closed in December 2011.
Arethusa owners George Malkemus and Anthony Yurgaitis have yet to determine what they will do with the parcel, which includes a building and several greenhouses. The property borders the northern end of Arethusa's property on Route 202.
Arethusa's holdings in Bantam include its dairy store and creamery and an office building next door. The first floor of the office building is being turned into a wine bar that is expected to open in late spring.
