Unbeaten and untied, Litchfield High's girls soccer team is standing atop the Berkshire League standings.
Coach Brian Mongeau's club improved to 7-0 on Tuesday with a 5-0 win over Wolcott Tech. Marissa Quesnel scored twice and had an assist to lead the Cowgirls. Emily Andrulis added a goal and an assist and Mary Claire and Jenna Almai each had a goal. Lauren Mariotti contributed an assist. In goal, Kelly Lewis made three saves.
The Cowgirls face their toughest test of the fall on Friday, when they host Lewis Mills. Perennial powerhouse Mills is 5-1.
Litchfield's boys meanwhile, forged a 3-3 tie with much-improved Thomaston on Monday. A win over Thomaston used to be a sure thing, but not this season as the Golden Bears are 4-1-1.
The Cowboys, 2-1-2 after the deadlock, received goals from Nick Hula, Ryan Corning and Quinn McKenna. Mark Luzzi made 10 saves. Litchfield returns to the field Thursday for a home game against Northwestern.
