For Litchfield in Thursday's game against Housatonic, Nick Hula, top, gets his head on the ball, Kyle Murphy goes by a defender, and Adam Rhodes contends for the ball.
Kyle Murphy's second-half goal gave Litchfield a 1-0 victory over Housatonic in the season opener Thursday at Plumb Hill Playing Fields.
Murphy broke scoreless deadlock by heading in a sideline throw from Drew Gauvain in the 54th minute. Gauvain's flip throw reached Murphy inside the penalty box.
It was a good start for the Cowboys, who have the experience and skill to have an impact on the Berkshire League race. Against Housatonic, they proved they have a good defense, too, one anchored by goalie Mark Luzzi.
