The fall sports season is underway at Litchfield High in oppressive late summer heat. Practice opened on Saturday for the boys and girls soccer teams, the field hockey team and the cross-country teams. Going through their paces on Tuesday at Plumb Hill Playing Fields were Jenny Cappello, a junior on the field hockey team and a Berkshire League All-Star last year, and Kelly Lewis, a sophomore goalie on the girls soccer team. Michael Lynn Cappello returns as the field hockey coach, while Brian Mongeau is back to lead the girls soccer team. Rob Andrulis is at the helm of the boys soccer team for another season and Brent Hawkins, the dean of the high school coaching staff, is the cross-country mentor.
