The best season in the six-year history of the Tri-Town Trojans ended in the Tri-State League championship series Wednesday at Fuessenich Park in Torrington.
Bethlehem defeated the Trojans 2-1 to win the best of three series two games to none. The well-played contest featured a pitchers duel between Jason Krajeski of the Plowboys and Miles Scribner of the Trojans. Krajeski tossed a five-hitter and struck out seven, while Scribner matched him by tossing a six-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
A seventh-inning solo home run by Tony Geraci gave the Plowboys a 2-0 lead and enough room to hold off the Trojans, who scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh when Kyle Osolin singled, went to third on a single by Troy Kobylarz and scored on a groundout by Landon Gardella.
Bethlehem's first run, in the fourth inning, came on a throwing error.
Despite the loss, it was a breakthrough season for the Trojans and manager Ryan McDonald. The team struggled early in the season but got hot late and rolled through the playoffs to reach the championship series. The final record was 17-11.
