The eight-week Whites Woods Cross-Country Series, sponsored by Litchfield's Parks and Recreation Department and the Litchfield Track Club, completed a successful summer run on Thursday.

A record 62 runners competed in the 5-K race, which was won by Colin McCrory of Southbury in 16:03, the third fastest time in series history. Bob Davenport of Litchfield was second in 16:27, the seventh fastest time in series history. The first female was Annmarie Tuxbury of New Hartford, who finished in 17:58, one second off the series record for women.

In the 4-K race, Mario Longo of Cheshire won in 15:58. Caroline Longacre of Watertown was the first female, in 19:34. Chris Mangini of New Hartford won the 3-K race in 11:59 and Kate Breiner of Watertown was the first female, in 13:12.

The 2-K race saw Jackson Morrow of Harwinton win in 6:55 and Megan Bobinski of Torrington finish as the first female, in 8:25.

Over the eight weeks, the series attracted 913 runners.

The second Night of Miles will be held Thursday at the Plumb Hill Playing Fields track. Races will begin at 6:30. Entry is $2.
