Former Litchfield High swimmer Brian Sandrib and some of his Dickinson College swim teammates were on a relay team that participated in the recent Swim Across the Sound in Long Island Sound.
The event raised more than $400,000 for St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. Sandrib and Dickinson teammates Justin Alves and Joe Benz swam for one of Fairfield Prep's relay teams, three of which finished in the top 10 in the 16.5-mile swim.
There were 45 teams and 10 solo swimmers in the swim. Sandrib will be a sophomore at Dickinson.
Another former Litchfield High swimmer, Greg Pearsall, also competed in the swim. Pearsall swam with the Springfield College alumni team.
