Cross-country series to conclude Thursday

The eighth and final week of the White Memorial Cross-Country Series takes place Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the White Memorial Conservation Center. There will be races 2-K, 3-K, 4-K and 5-K in distance. Entry is $2.

The seventh week featured a loaded 5-K field of former Berkshire League All-Stars. Litchfield High grads Jeremy Schmid and Spencer Sass finished first and second, respectively, while Wamogo grad Dan Lane was third and Thomaston grad Josh Olsen fourth. Annmarie Tuxbury of New Hartford was the first female, in 17:59, two seconds off the women's series and course record.

In the 2-K, brothers Chris and Josh Mancini of New Hartford finished first and second, respectively. Sara Viebrock of Bethel was the first female.

Former Wamogo runner Justin Hudak won the 3-K in 10:28, while Marge DeMarris of Sharon was the first female in 11:11, the third-fastest women's time in the series. Justin Redente, another former Wamogo runner, won the 4-K in 17:25 and Megan Bobinski of Torrington was the first female, in 18:34.

The second Night of Miles will be held Aug. 26 at the Plumb Hill Playing Fields track. Races will begin at 6:30. Entry is $2.
