In Thursday's loss to Bethlehem at Community Field, top to bottom, Litchfield second baseman Drew Gauvain put the tag on a Bethlehem runner, Kyle Robinson delivers a pitch, Leland McKenna follows through on a swing, and shortstop Kyle Weaver fires to Chris Beach at first base.
The Litchfield Cowboys led much of the way in Thursday's Tri-State League game against Bethlehem at Community Field, but couldn't hold on in dropping a 4-3 decision.
A win over the Plowboys, one of the top teams in the league, would've been big for the Cowboys as they seek a berth in the league playoffs. Instead, the Cowboys fell to 8-12 with two games left in the regular season. They'll host Winsted Sunday at 11 a.m. at Community Field.
Leland McKenna drove in two runs with a single for Litchfield. Kyle Robinson pitched six strong innings and worked into the seventh before Chris Beach came on in relief. Bethlehem broke a 3-3 tie with a run off Robinson in the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh, Beach led off with a single and Kyle Weaver followed with a single, but the next three hitters were retired to end the game.
