
Former Litchfield Cowboys player and manager John McKenna was inducted into the Tri-State Baseball League Hall of Fame June 6. Here are some scenes from the induction ceremony.
Litchfield.bz reporter and photographer John McKenna was inducted into the Tri-State Baseball League Hall of Fame on June 6. The induction ceremony took place at Doc Bartlett Field in Amenia, N.Y. Also inducted were Dave Post of Thomaston, R.J. Poniatoski of Torrington, Charlie Thornton of Amenia, Jay Lamere of Winsted, and the late Chris Caron of Thomaston. McKenna played in the league from 1983 to 2002, for the Litchfield Cowboys from 1983-86, the Thomaston Spoilers from 1987-90, and Litchfield from 1991-2002. He served as player-manager of the Cowboys from 1994-97 and 1999-2002. Former Cowboys Mark Murphy, Bob Houser, Don Rhynhart, Ed Freimuth, Billy Neller and Tom Smart were on hand for the ceremony and an old-timers game that followed. Freimuth and Neller are also members of the Hall of Fame.
