The Litchfield Soccer Club's girls under-14 team reached the semifinals of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association's Connecticut Cup Tournament, where it lost in heartbreaking fashion. Recently this team has been declared co-champions of the CJSA NW District Spring 2010 league.

Litchfield, coached by Scott Shakley, Rob McGregor and Rich Ricci, lost to Orange 2-1 on penalty kicks last Saturday at White Memorial Field. A goal by Tara Shakley of Litchfield near the end of regulation sent the game into overtime.

When overtime couldn't settle matters, the teams went to a round of penalty kicks. Orange had a 3-2 edge to seal the victory.

Litchfield finished the spring season 6-0-2 (6 wins, 2 ties). In addition to Tara Shakely, girls on the team were Shelby Elwell, Jenna Almai, Megan Deacon, Sarah DeMatteis, Chelsea Hayward, Olivia Judd, Hallie Lambert, Hayley McGregor, Jen Millar, Olivia Nordland, Kelly O'Halloran, Julia Pearson, Morgan Ricci, Iliana Saddler, Meghan Shipp, Lauren Tourtellotte, Emily Bogen and Maddie Chapman.
