LHS's Slohm seventh in hammer throw

Litchfield High School junior Doug Slohm was seventh in the hammer throw at the State Open track and field championship in New Britain on Wednesday. Slohm threw the hammer 120 feet, 6 inches. It was a nearly 20-foot improvement over his fourth-place distance at the Berkshire League championships last month.

Litchfield's Alex Slohm, a junior, grabbed 7th place in the state open hammer throw held at New Britain Stadium on Wednesday. Slohm had a previous throw of 100'9" for 4th in the Berkshire League, but best that with a toss of 120'6" for his personal best. Slohm was in 6th until the final throw of Peter Greco of Housatonic, 121'11", bumped him off the medal stand to 7th.
